We are always on the look out for innovations in learning that can take down some of these barriers and that is definately what we found with Kaplan. If you'd like to obtain a new qualification or degree, Kaplan Open Learning offers various options and degrees accredited by the University of Essex. The courses available cover Business, Criminal Justice and Financial Services. The Career Studio joins the ICG national council

07 June 2009

Ronnie Davidson has been welcomed on to the national council of the Institute of Career Guidance. The ICG is the governing body for the professional Qualification in Career Guidance (QCG) and represents the development of the profession across the UK with some 4500 members. Ronnie will represent the interests of Scottish members and contribute to the development of the institute. Commenting on the appointment Ronnie said “Since becoming qualified eight years ago I never really identified with the ICG but now things have changed. I have grown to recognise that I need to invest some of my energy into its activities and take on some responsibility if I want the organisation to better reflect the work I do and the views I develop. Joining the national council and the Scottish branch committee is an opportunity to learn and an chance to contribute to the changes that I want to see happen in our profession”.

Give the Gift of Change in 2009

04 January 2009

In time for 2009 we have launched our new career guidance gift certificate. It is an ideal gift for anyone who might benefit from some professional help with their career. All you need to do is print it and give it and we will invoice you after completion. A career guidance meeting typically lasts two hour and costs about £50. We prepare for the meeting in advance and help our clients to inject energy and enterprise into their career so they can make good decisions and find new ways to go forward with confidence. So if there is someone you know and love who could really benefit why not help them change and download the certificate now.

Client Endorsement Goes Global

19 December 2008

It's always great to get positive feedback from our clients. In the main we don't publish them to protect privacy but with this one we could not resist. It is perhaps the best individual endorsement we’ve had so far and our client Anne Jackson has shared it with the world on her blog. We don't always get immediate outcomes in the careers of our clients but we almost always help people to the road to bigger and better things and often take them closer towards where they want to be with their career. If like Anne, you are looking for some clarity then why not get in touch.

Returning to Work Mum – Zest magazine

02 December 2008

Ronnie Davidson from The Career Studio featured in Zest Magazine earlier this year as part of a life makeover competition for a prize winning reader in Aberdeen. Zest magazine is about empowering women has a national circulation of around 250,000 copies per month. Ronnie said “It has been great to do some work with a major national magazine and has certainly led to a spike of new enquiries from young professional women like Emma, the client we worked with for the article. It is not easy to make your way back to working after having children but it can be a great opportunity to do something you really want to do and get back your independence on terms that better suit your family commitments”. With tough times ahead in the economy it is likely that many women will be thinking of getting back into work. “It is important to realise you are just as employable as anyone else and must not sell yourself short because you have not been in paid employment for a period of time. The Career Studio can help advise you on how best to move forward." You can read our contribution in Zest Magazine here.
